GET THE LOOK: Don’t think that eyeliner has to be fierce—it can add just the right touch of glamour, as it did for Molly Sims or Kareena Kapoor. in the past I have created this look very easily. Recently, for Molly Sims, Makeup artist Stevi Christine, of Warren-Tricomi L.A., created this look using white shimmer on the inner corners of the eye and a silvery-gray on the lid. “I accentuated her eyes by adding a navy-black kohl eyeliner on the top and lined the rim of the inside,” says Christine.

INSIDER TRICK: Adds Christine, “Make sure you keep your eyeliner in your clutch because you will want to touch it up when you hit the ladies’ room!” You’ll want to re-trace the line near the inner corner, which can dissipate because of the proximity to eye moisture.

We all love the effect and look of a smoky eye, but sometimes it can be too heavy. Take a lesson from Priyanka Chopra, whose beautiful eyes had just enough smoky by using heavy brown shades instead of grays and blacks.

Brush a nude shadow from the lash line up past the crease and then lined the upper lashline with Lancome's Le Crayon Khol in Black Coffee and smudged the line. Set the entire lid with a cocoa-hued shadow and finished by rimming the lower inner line with the Khol pencil and a coat of Lancome's Oscillation mascara.

Instantly Alluring Eyes

Maximize your blush. Take a creamy rose blush, and apply it in a half-moon shape under your brow bone and over the tops of your cheekbones. “You’ll get a subtle sheen that draws attention to your eyes and makes your face glow,” explains Page.

Tap lip gloss under your brows. Sounds crazy, but patting on a soft, shimmery pink gloss helps highlight and lift your eyes, says Paish. Use a nonsticky formula (so your lashes don’t get stuck!), and blend in.

Wear contrasting eye-shadow colors. It’s a hot trend for fall, but just work with what you already have. Apply a bright, intense hue (like purple) on your upper lids, then drag a softer hue (pearly green) along your lower lash line, recommends Page.

Put bronzer on your lashes. Comb loose bronze powder through lashes instead of mascara. “You’ll get a subtle sparkle that’s so sexy for night since it catches the light,” says Miller. Makeup artist Cory Walia used Mark products on Deepika Padukone, including Liquid Eyeliner in Cleo (a rich, black shade) and four coats of plumping mascara to get her eye-enhancing look.

Experiment a little with liquid liner. If the line looks uneven or too heavy, top it with the eyeshadow you applied to your lids—flaws are hidden and the thickness of the black is toned down.

We're usually cautioned that less is more when it comes to bright. But Vidya Balan ruled the Filmfare's pages in royal blue smoky eyes.

With a bright hue, go for subtle smokey to make your eyes look brighter and more awake. Concentrate the color along the upper and lower lashlines and draw the shadow up slightly above the crease and out to the corner.

Mickey stresses on moisturizing the skin lavishly with M.A.C Studio Moisture Fix. “Start with lots, you can remove the excess with tissue later,” he says. Go easy on the oily parts of the face. Apply more around the jaw to prevent blotchy make-up. Let it soak in, it makes blending easier. Dot the T-zone with M.A.C Select Cover-Up and then blend all over. Then mattify it down with M.A.C Select Sheer/Loose Powder. The concealer from the T-zone spreads evenly as base to the rest of the face at this stage. It is best to blend the powder with a brush with light, even strokes; excess powder can be buffed away. Use the powder that is the same color as your foundation. Don’t forget the neck. If needed, use more powder on the neck to bring an even tone. To compliment the smoky eyes mix M.A.C Gingerly Powder Blush and M.A.C Mocha Powder Blush and brush it on the cheeks, finish lightly on your chin and forehead as well. Also touch it over your hairline to get rid of any residual powder. You don’t need 20 colors, buy four or five like peach, pink and brown, mix and match from there. Cream blush is best dabbed with fingers, don’t forget to matte it out with some powder.

On the eyelids, Mickey uses M.A.C Creme Colour Base in Shell and then brushes some powder over it to bring it to the same texture as the rest of the face. He then uses M.A.C Blacktrack Fluidline, and smudges it a bit. He then applies M.A.C Folie Eye Shadow, a brown matte, and blends well, leaving no sharp lines. He then outlines the eye (top and bottom lid) from the inside with M.A.C Blacktrack Fluidline for a black kohl effect. M.A.C Folie Eye Shadow is again applied with M.A.C 219 Pencil Brush under the lower eyelids to elongate the eyes. He then takes M.A.C Carbon Eye Shadow on a slant brush and blends over M.A.C Folie Eye Shadow on the lower lash line. Curl your lashes and apply a mixture of M.A.C Fibre Rich Mascara and M.A.C Plush Lash Mascara for a false eyelash effect. Then use M.A.C Brown Down Eye Shadow with the 266 Small Angle Brush and go over the eyebrows. A second coat of mascara and this finishes the smoky eyes. The Creme Colour Base acts as an eye shadow base. The shadow won't move and neither will it crease. If make-up smudges, clean it up with a wet Q-tip. An eyelash curler is essential. “Actresses always carry one in their bag!” Hold your lashes in an eyelash curler. Count till 20.

Use M.A.C Spice Lip Pencil to outline and fill in the lips with M.A.C Viva Glam 5 Lipstick, and top it off with M.A.C Viva Glam 5 Lipglass. Don’t sharpen the lip liner too much. Always round the tip off. Dual tone lips need to be filled with lip liner. Filled-in lips makes the lip color stay on long.

• Play down lips with smoky eyes.
• Stained lips are the ‘it’ look of the moment.
• Puffy eyes can’t be covered with make-up. Just hold your chin up to make sure it doesn’t show!
• Keep your make-up fresh for long by avoiding the sun. M.A.C Fix + is water for the skin, it makes the skin look instantly fresh.
• Treat problematic skin. Make-up is not the remedy.
• Since it is not possible for any brand to make 600 shades of foundation, buy the shades closest to your skin tone and mix. Do a patch test around the jaw line and step out in natural light before you decide to buy.
• M.A.C Studio Fix is the best make-up for ladies on the go.
• There are no make-up rules. Make your own trends!
• Blending is super important. The trick is not to show where it begins and ends.

• Natural light is the best for applying make-up. At night, yellow lights work, tube lights don’t.

Benefit erase paste concealer

I finally got my cute little box in the mail and was really looking forward to benefit's new concealer. Then I read the very handy little lesson leaflet in the box and see they refer to using the included applicator spatula. I should have known better from those trendy folks at benefit to throw in another goody. Like most of benefit's great line, erase paste instantly evens, brightens and erases blotches and redness with a few easy steps. Now admittedly there are some benefit products I've tried and since left to dry up in the drawer but I can see erase paste coming in handy when needed.

According to benefit ( and their crack Marketing team) Signs of stress & fatigue are a thing of the past with this innovative formula. This concentrated, creamy, blendable concealer instantly brightens & camouflages all-in-one. Well it did brighten me up a bit under my eyes and it did blend in well. I can't say I'm in love the freebie flexi-plastic spatula but then again I can't recommend sticking your fingers, no matter how clean, into the jar. A tube or even a small pump is preferable since anything you can stick back into an open jar or bottle can add to contamination. That fact aside this paste should really be called a cream - not too greasy and not too dry. Here's the quick application advice from benefit - poof! your perfect instructions:
The tiny, too cool retro 0.15 oz tub come in three shades (1 fair, 2 medium and 3 deep) to match your particular skin tone. I received the medium and it's a pretty good match for my winter skin. Again the long term likability remains to be seen but out of the box, it's now on my daily (when necessary) routine.

• Use cucumber juice with milk to cleanse your face instead of cleanser from a bottle

• If you want to refresh your face instantly, then rub a wedge of lemon over it. Leave it on for 15-20 minutes and wash it off with cold water. However, avoid this if you have dry skin.
• Those with dry skin can apply a mixture of honey, lemon and vegetable oil and leave it on for 10 minutes for the instant glow.
• You can also get glowing skin by mixing pumpkin, milk and egg yolk in a bowl and applying this on your face. Let it set for half an hour. Then wash it off.
• Honey and milk, when applied together, will also make your skin glow.

BLUSH SPLASH

Prominent Cheekbones:
High cheekbones make a face look good in photographs. So highlight them more, use a shimmery blush on the apple of the cheekbones.

Rounded Cheeks:
A darker shade of blush under the cheekbones and light, shimmering shades will give definition to an otherwise plump face.

TIPS:
Experiment with blushers in different colours and highlight areas that you want to bring out.
Be careful with highlighters and shimmers though – you don’t want to end up looking too shiny!
For a good complexion but dry skin, use cream-based blushers and products.
While selecting the right shade of blush, keep in mind your skin tone and the tints that go well with your complexion.

Follow these 5 tips to ditch winter itchy skin

You could wear nothing but cashmere from head to toe. But there’s a less expensive way to address autumn’s dry-skin miseries: Maximize the moisture level in your skin. Here are five good ways to maximize your dry skin in cold weather.

Lather, rinse–and do not repeat. Hot water removes natural oils from your skin that help keep it hydrated. So those long, hot baths rob your skin of moisture, making it dry and itchy. The cure? Shower in lukewarm water for no more than 10 minutes.

Slather while damp. Moisturizers work by trapping water in your skin’s outer layers, so use creams and lotions immediately after exiting the shower. Give yourself a quick towel-dry so you’re not dripping wet and then coat yourself with moisturizer. Need industrial-strength help? Go for ointments or creams rather than lotions, which include more water than oil. (You might even dab on some baby oil or petroleum jelly.)

Spring for a humidifier. In the summertime, your skin can replenish itself by soaking up the moisture in the air. But when the mercury falls, so does the natural humidity. Add the drying effects of indoor heating, and you have trouble. Solution: When you jack up the thermostat, turn on a humidifier, as well.

Drink water. Hydrate your skin from the inside by downing at least eight 8-ounce glasses a day.

Switch soaps. If, despite your best efforts, you’re still plagued by the winter pricklies, switch to a milder soap (look for “moisturizing” on the label). Your choice should also be fragrance-free–it’ll be less irritating.

Certain foods can cause flare-ups of contact dermatitis, the catchall term for skin irritation and itching, reports a recent University of Louisville study. Anything related to balsam, including tomatoes, colas, chocolate, and spices such as vanilla, can cause problems. And products containing citrus may also be troublemakers. Try eliminating these foods from your diet for a month. If your condition improves, you’ll know that you’re sensitive to balsam and that you need to avoid them. (Yes, that means chocolate and vanilla. Strawberry, anyone?) If you find that you’re missing your favorite goodies, add them back one at a time and see how your body reacts.

EYES WISE

Almond-Shaped Eyes:
Use a black eyeliner on the upper eyelid and a kajal pencil to line the inside of the lower eyelid. This gives a beautiful definition to the eyes…

Deep-Set & Small Eyes:
Always use a thin eyeliner on small or deep set eyes, under the lower lashes. Shimmery textures and light colour eyeshadows bring out deep set eyes. A thin eyeliner under the lower lashes is a good way to make small eyes look bigger. A white pencil subtly used inside the lower lid opens up the eyes. Dark colours and matte textures make eyes look bigger.

TIPS:

• Deep-set eyes can be underplayed by using a bit of a dark shade in the inner corner of the eye.
• For small eyes with thick lashes, apply loads of mascara. You can even glam up in the evening by using stick-on lash extensions.
• Liquid eyeliner gives a good finish but requires a steady hand.

SHAPELY EYEBROWS:
Shape Ace:
Arched eyebrows give attitude and sophistication to a face. The arch can be redefined with an eyebrow filler in brown or brownish black.

Trim Edge:
Sparse eyebrows can be filled with the same type of eyebrow filler in brown or brownish black.

Thick Trick:
Dense eyebrows can be made to look shapelier with the help of tweezing and threading. Or use a lighter shade of hair colour to lift the colour of thick eyebrows.

TIPS:

• Whether the eyebrows are thin, thick or full, they should always be impeccably shaped and stray-hair free
• If blessed with shapely eyebrows, then tend to them by constantly brushing with a bit of transparent mascara or gel.

Eye: Smoky and subtle eyes with loads of mascara will rule the roost. Subtle and natural eyes will also be the trend.

Colour Palette: Peach, Bronze, woody browns, lilac, pale coral, exotic floral and sea colours in neutral shades. Silver, gold and smoky black add a dash of drama.

Summery Touch: A touch of eyeliner and a dash of brown-black mascara with brighten your eyes.

Style Wise: If you want to highlight your eyes, do up your lips in neutral or subtle shades. However, bright lips can also be matched with dramatic dark eyeshadow during the night. Finish with smudge-proof mascara on the top lashes.

CLEOPATRA LOOK

* Brush a light eyeshadow over the entire lid and blend it upwards towards the brow bone. A shade like beige, taupe or cream is perfect.
* Apply a rich dark shadow to the contour and blend into the crease.
* From the inner corner of your eyelid, draw a thin line using a dark eyeliner and thicken it gradually when you reach the outer corner. Sweep it upwards further.


* Do the same thing on the lower lash line, extend it upward to meet the upper line.
* Finish with two generous coats of mascara.

Colours: Bold sea blue, yellow green, royal blue, beige and deep jewel colours
Moments: Red carpet events, catwalks and big night dos
Ultra Glam: Apply a heavy coat of mascara on the upper and lower lashes for maximum impact.

WINGED LOOK

* Start from the upper lid. Draw a thick or delicate ‘wing’ using an eyeliner. Repeat on lower lid.
* Apply Mascara and further define the ‘wings’ depending on how thick you want them.

Colours: Shades of black, metallic colours.
Moments: Day dos and parties.
Ultra Glam: Loads of mascara










GAMINE LOOK

* Shade your entire lid – from the lashes to brow bone in taupe or neutral toned eyeshadow
* Highlight with creamy pale or white eyeshadow for a subtly defined monochromatic wash look.
* Apply black kohl/pencil on your lash line. Sweep it across your upper lid, making it thicker over your pupil area and tapering it towards the temple
* Line the inner rim of the lower lid with a white, pale pink or pale blue pencil

Colours: Light jewel tones
Moments: Catwalks, champagne-soaked events.
Ultra Glam: Define your pencil line with a touch of liquid liner if you want a stronger look. Put loads of mascara on the upper lashes.
